Having placed more than 26,000 dental implants, Dr. Gilani is widely sought after for complex implant cases, severe bone loss, failed implant reconstruction, and comprehensive oral rehabilitation. His unique expertise allows him to evaluate not only the teeth, but the health, quality, and long-term stability of the supporting jawbone and surrounding structures that ultimately determine treatment success.
Dr. Gilani has spent much of his career educating future generations of dentists, periodontists, and implant surgeons. He completed his specialty residency in Periodontics and Implantology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in addition to earning a Master of Science in Oral Biology from UCLA, establishing the scientific and clinical foundation for his distinguished career in periodontal and implant surgery.
From 1989 through 2019, Dr. Gilani served on the faculty of UCLA, where he taught Periodontics and Implant Dentistry and helped train future dental professionals in both surgical and clinical disciplines. From 1990 through 2016, he also served on the teaching staff and medical staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, contributing to interdisciplinary education and advancing collaboration between medicine and dentistry. He remains one of the few Beverly Hills periodontists with hospital privileges.
Beyond his academic appointments, Dr. Gilani has served as an international lecturer and educator, sharing advanced surgical techniques, implant innovations, and periodontal treatment concepts with clinicians, specialists, and universities throughout the world
